Pair of Rare Shiro Takagi Oil on Canvas PaintingsShiro Takagi was a leader of the sosaku hanga and moku hanga art movements.Widely known for his woodblock printmaking, it is extremely rare for a signed oil painting to come to market. These paintings are displayed in their original hand built frames. These paintings are in good vintage condition with no major defects.Shiro Takagi was born in 1934 in Hirosaki in Aomori prefecture. He attended the renowned Musashino College of Fine Arts in Tokyo but left without graduation and took private lessons in woodblock printmaking from Amani Kunihiro.Shiro Takagi joined the sosaku hangar movement. He exhibited with the sosaku hanga artist associations Nihon Hanga Kyokai and with Kokugakai and took part in many of the renowned international print biennale shows - in Tokyo, Grenchen, Krakow, Sao Paulo, Paris and Los Angeles. In 1961 he became a member of Nihon Hanga Kyokai.Shiro Takagi's prints were published at a certain phase of his career by Watanabe Color Print Company.Canvas Size:6 3/8" x 9"Frame Size:11.5" x 14.5"
