Presented for auction is this authentic vintage Louis Vuitton steamer wardrobe trunk. It has an historical provenance, having belonged to my great-uncle who was a diplomat from 1903-1930's. This trunk has crossed many continents and oceans. (If interested, his bio provided to winning bidder.) There is a reasonable reserve. The trunk is 43 inches long, 21.5 inches deep, 22 inches high - perfect for a coffee table or a bedroom blanket chest. With the original coated monogrammed canvas, beechwood (?) slats, LV stamped original hardware, it has interior drawers on right side and space for hanging items (original hangars) on the left. The leather LV label, with serial number, is on the left interior floor. The interior is lined with fabric, not paper. The exterior of the trunk has predictable wear. It has been subjected to moisture (possibly while in the hold of an ocean liner?) as seen by rippling on parts of the exterior canvas but not the fabric interior which has no musty odor. A tear in one exterior corner appears to have been professionally repaired; the leather edging shows wear. There are abrasions and some punctures; some of the nailheads are missing.
